The Romans believed a vein ran from the ring finger to the heart — vena amoris, the vein of love. Tanzanite was discovered once, in one place, and will run out within a generation.

The Stone
An 8 x 6mm tanzanite — one of the rarest gemstones in the world, found only in a single geological corridor near Mount Kilimanjaro in Tanzania. Scientists estimate the known deposits will be exhausted within 20 to 30 years. It is a hundred times rarer than diamond. Its color shifts between deep violet-blue and burgundy depending on the angle of light, a phenomenon called pleochroism. These 18 natural diamond accents and 2 natural sapphires don't compete — they frame.

The Metal
Solid 18k grey gold — a rare alloy most jewelers never work with. Its cool, almost architectural presence is the perfect counterpoint to tanzanite's warm violet depth. Recycled and conflict-free. Hand-finished in a Brooklyn studio using old-world goldsmithing techniques.

The Setting
The Iris. A heavy, architectural band designed to hold stones with gravity. Six prongs, substantial construction, built to become an heirloom.
